Court Sitting and Listing Arrangements

Use the court listing and sittings information to find out when a local court sits and when different types of cases can be heard at that court.

Fixed Vacation Period

The Local Court's Fixed Vacation will commence on Monday 28 December 2026 and the Court will recommence on Monday 11 January 2027.


Waverley Local Court Closure

Waverley Local Court Sitting at John Maddison Tower

Waverley Local Court is sitting at John Maddison Tower until 7 August 2026 in Courtrooms 7A & 7B.

Waverley Local Court Registry Services will be provided from the John Maddison Tower, Local Court Registry on Level 4, between 9 AM and 4 PM each weekday.

Contacting the Court remains the same, email the Court at [email protected].

Those with matters listed before Waverley Local Court have been notified of the change of venue to John Maddison Tower.

Waverley Local Court is closed during this period due to renovations occurring at Waverley Police Station and the expected noise from these works.

Court sittings and registry services will resume at Waverley from Monday, 10 August 2026.

 

Court Closure AVL Appearances

Pursuant to Practice Note Court Closure Criminal AVL Proceedings [OR] clause 28 of Practice Note Criminal Proceedings, the Chief Judge may declare particular Local Courts as Designated Places, where the following applies:

28.3      Unless an order has been made by the Court to bring the defendant before the Court in person,                 all hearings and mentions listed at a Designated Place for defendants in custody are to be                           conducted by AVL where:

               (a)    It is reasonably practical to do so, and

               (b)    The defendant or their legal representative consents to appearing by AVL.

The Chief Judge has declared the following Local Courts as Designated Places:
