Criminal cases in the NSW Local Court are heard by a magistrate, who determines the sentence or orders. Find out more about what happens at the end of a criminal case.

Civil cases can be finalised by agreement of both parties before they reach a hearing or they can be finalised by a magistrate. When they are finalised by the magistrate, he or she will make orders. Find out more about what happens at the end of a civil case.
