Online Court is a digital service introduced by the NSW Justice Department, which enables legal practitioners and Registrars (and in some cases, individuals) to manage and process preliminary orders without having to enter the courtroom.
The service is aimed at preventing you and your clients from wasting valuable time at court, waiting for your matter to be heard, as well as the travel costs associated with appearing in person. Any legal practitioner registered to use the Online Registry website, can use the same credentials to access Online Court.
Originally launched to incorporate the Sydney Local Court, General Division Call-over list, Online Court has been gradually extended to other lists, including the Small Claims Pre-Trial Review (Motor Vehicle) list, Supreme Court Corporations Registrar's Directions list and the Land and Environment Court.
Once a matter is available in the relevant list, you can proceed with your cases online, just as you would in court. You can also message the Registrar, and all your dealings will be transparent to all parties, and recorded in the Online Court Record for your case.
Each court with the exception of the NSW Children's Court publishes a daily schedule of cases called a court list.
Use the court lists to find the time and place of your court appearance or to find out what is happening in the courtrooms on a particular date. View and confirm listing information about specific cases currently before the court.
You can search for cases listed up to two weeks in advance, and for previous listings that have occurred in the last seven days. The Online Court List is updated several times a day.
You can check the information in the searchable Online court list or download PDF versions of the court lists published by particular courts or tribunals.
Trranscripts and recordings of court proceedings can be ordered through the Online Transcripts Portal on the NSW Online Registry website.
Customers can:
To use the online transcripts portal you must be registered with the Online Registry. If you are not already registered for the Online Registry, you can create an Online Registry Account.
Please note: The Online Transcripts Ordering service is not yet available to customers from specialist Courts and Tribunals (NCAT, Dust Diseases Tribunal, Drug Court, Children's Court)
If you are not a party to a case and are requesting a transcript, please ensure you follow the particular court's non party request process.
